CANUS Corporation recently completed acceptance testing of a brand new transmission substation fed by a major photovoltaic (PV) field. The publicly owned utility outsourced the engineer, procure and construct (EPC) responsibilities to a third party that CANUS supported with substation testing services. CANUS tested all of the outside equipment on the 500 kV side including the high voltage circuit breakers (HVCB’s), the capacitor banks, capacitance-coupled voltage transformer (CCVT’s), etc. CANUS completed all testing required on the step down transformers and associated equipment. CANUS also tested all of the outside equipment on the 230 kV side including HVCB’s, current transformers (CT’s), ground grid, bus bar, etc.
Inside the control house CANUS tested the battery bank, the control wiring, the protective relays and controls, the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, substation automation system (SAS), and complete function testing station wide. The CANUS electrical testing team turned in their testing work products on time and under budget with ZERO incidents or injuries.
